Drivability & vehicle health check

Road test + inspection
We assess how the car drives on the road and inspect key systems — responsiveness, unusual noises, shift behaviour, brakes and suspension feel — then explain what we find in plain language.
Transparent pricing
We prioritise transparency in both our pricing and processes. We provide clear, competitive quotes, ensuring you understand all associated costs upfront. With no hidden fees, you'll always know exactly what you're paying for.
Not a dyno tune
This is a workshop drivability and health assessment. We do not run a rolling-road dyno or stage-style power tunes here. If you need dyno tuning, that is a separate specialised service elsewhere — we will tell you honestly.
Drivability Check in Melbourne
Car feels flat, thirsty or “not right”? Workshop drivability and health check — road test, scan and inspection. Not a dyno or power-tune.
A drivability check is for when the car feels flat, hesitant, thirsty, noisy, or simply “not right” — or when you want peace of mind before a long trip.
At StalexAuto, this is a workshop assessment: road test where appropriate, diagnostic scan, and a practical inspection of systems that affect how the car drives. It is not a dyno session, horsepower measurement or performance remap.
You leave with clear findings and recommended next steps — what needs attention now, what can wait, and whether a deeper diagnostic booking is the right path for a specific fault.
When to book a drivability check
Book if you notice loss of power, rough running, higher fuel use, new noises, harsh or odd gear shifts, or you want a health check before interstate or holiday travel. If a warning light is already on, say so when you book — we may start with focused diagnostics instead.
A typical drivability check may include:
Road test for drivability concerns (where suitable)
Diagnostic scan for stored and pending fault codes
Engine running condition and obvious leak / noise checks
Transmission shift feel assessment (on road test)
Suspension and steering feel notes from the road test
Brake feel and basic under-bonnet / underbody inspection
Plain-language summary of findings and next steps

Common questions about Drivability Check
What is a drivability check?
It is a workshop assessment of how the car drives and its general running condition — typically a road test where suitable, a diagnostic scan, and an inspection focused on your symptoms. You get a plain-language summary of findings and next steps.
Do you have a dyno / rolling road?
No. We do not offer dyno tuning, horsepower runs or stage remaps. This page is a drivability and health check at the workshop — not a dyno service.
When should I book a drivability check?
Book if the car feels flat, thirsty, noisy or simply “not right”, or before a long trip when you want peace of mind. If a warning light is already on, tell us when booking — focused diagnostics may be the better first step.
